What Aadhaar e-KYC actually does
It verifies a person's identity against the official UIDAI record using their consent and a one-time OTP. No photocopies, no signatures, no faxing. It's the same trust as walking into a branch — only faster.
When small business owners need it
- Opening a current account or a payment-gateway merchant ID
- Onboarding a customer for credit (PayLap Score uses it)
- Investing on platforms like PayLap Invest
What to watch for
Never share your Aadhaar number on a non-verified site. Use the masked-Aadhaar option where possible. Aadhaar e-KYC via DigiLocker is fully encrypted in transit.
